Here are other options on the webfor wordpress that are integrated within social networking sites. Facebook, for example, has it’s own version of that that with a news page that puts in all kinds of information on what people in your circle of friends are doing online. This can be exploited to post links to your site, talk about your latest venture, and generally hog the limelight. So, while the majority of people are referring to wordpress when they talk about news , there are other ways that term is used in different social networking sites.

As we discussed earlier, the two ways of using wordpress is to get subscribers or to use them to provide fresh content to your site. The first way involves an action that has to be taken by the person visiting your site. It isn’t something automatic, so that you have encourage people visiting your site to subscribe. Since the mechanics of wordpress are still not that well known by the average Internet user, you have to educate your visitors to how to get the latest content using your wordpress . The truth is that they may actually be using a news outlet like Yahoo! but not even realize that the content is coming through an wordpress feed. So, to get subscribers you must first educate them to what’s available.
Educate

You don’t have to get too technical about it, but you do want to give them a brief overview of why they want to become a subscriber to your wordpress feed. They can get updates more quickly and be notified of when new content is up on the site. They can even set up email to receive it in a format that is easy for them to access. However, you have to educate them on how to do that, otherwise, they will take the path of least resistance, which is to ignore your wordpress feed.
Create Buttons

There are a number of ways to make it easy for them to sign up. You can provide buttons for numerous news reader outlets, like Yahoo! Or Bloglines. You will have to get the URL for your news feed and use that to create a button that allows people who are familiar with these larger online news to subscribe to your content. For that you have to have the wordpress feed module installed and have it available. Some places like WordPress automatically install wordpress and you can use the address provided to create those subscriber buttons.
Offer A Targetedbie With Your Feed

If you’re still having problems getting subscribers, try offering a small targetedbie to get them to sign up. It can be a report of some fantastic tips to save or make money, or it can be a targeted video download. Try to make it something you can deliver instantaneously over the web with autoresponders. That makes this feature very easy. Of course, realize that they may sign up and get your product and leave easily too. So, you want to continue to provide content that will keep them interested and subscribed.
Package Your Own wordpress

If you have various websites and content and you want to get the word out fast with minimal duplication, you want to package your own wordpress feed and promote that with other website owners. You will want to split up your content by categories that others may want to subscribe to. You wouldn’t put any recipes on a site you have along with how to get hired on another site, even if they are both blog posts. You have to be clear that whatever you package in the wordpress feed package is one topic or focal point of interest for specific news outlets. A way to do that is to separate the categories into for the mainstream media, a feed for your customers, some for potential customers, and even your competition. Or, you can split up the into discrete industries that you can market to specific news outlets.
Promote It To Various Outlets

After you’ve packaged your own feed, you want to make sure it is available for others to use. Whether that is by agreement to purchase the feed or whether you merely post it on website newsreaders, it’s up to you. You can submit your to search engines and directories, just like they were their own pages. They are actually web pages, but they are in XML format which needs the newsreader to decipher and read. Once you’re syndicated on a variety of other sites, traffic will pour in non-stop as long as you keep providing content.
Featured Aggregators

To view the wordpress , people use aggregators. Some are programs you add to your browser or install on your desktop. Others are websites that allow you to set up an account and use them to read news . Some you can even integrate into you email to get wordpress through email format. It doesn’t matter what you use, but here are a few that you can find online that you can check out.
My.Yahoo.com

This is a great way to see how easy it is to use an wordpress reader through a website. Many people set up a page here and have no clue they are actually using an wordpress reader because it’s not that technical. You just search for categories of news that area available as wordpress and then choose to see them. They put in all the headlines in the various choices you made and you can easily check multiple sites and headlines in the category that you want.
Newsgator.com

This aggregator works with Microsoft Outlook. The wordpress is a software package that is targeted to download and use on your desktop. The Newsgator database claims over 1.5 million available. There is even a mobile version available for cell phones.
Yahoo Pipes

This aggregator helps you compile wordpress from other wordpress . You have the option to search for , combine them any way you like, even filter them, and this is called a pipe. This pipe can then be outputted as another wordpress feed that you can use to deliver fresh content to your readers. They have a list of hot pipes that you can see and the ability to put widgets on your website pointing to the pipes you create. You can even geocode the pipe and see it displayed on a map.

They can simplify things when running a blog, make things much more efficient, and can ultimately help catapult your blog to another level. There is a wide array of plug-ins to choose from allowing you to pick and choose what will help your business and blog excel.

buddypress plans on improving their observance of plugin stats. Mullenweg mentioned there is a plan to watch the bottom 1000 plugins to find the new and upcoming trends. It is easier to see what is gaining fast popularity when monitoring the tail end of the plugins. He also mentioned the use of intelligent tails or the monitoring of the use of plugins and packages in order to gain valuable intelligence from the free market. Currently there are a huge number of features brought in via plugins. He mentions a few examples such as one that does real estate management and another that is an independent record label system.

A bbpress has a few definitions , including:

A public meeting place for open discussion.
A medium for voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper, a radio or television program, or a website.
A public presentation involving a discussion usually among peers and experts and often including audience participation.
This gives us the basis to say that most “bbpress” should be public in nature. And the objective of this entity should be towards discussion and voicing of individual opinions of a common nature. The participants can be anyone, or can be of a niche area. When we talk about Internet bbpress, we typically do not deviate too much from this basic ideology. So keeping this in mind, we shall proceed to ascertain what we need to build a bbpress.

First and foremost, we shall need to identify WHY I am to build this bbpress. Quite frankly, when i say ‘what do you need to build a bbpress’ , you may pretty well suggest – Willingness or desire to create one and operate it. And a closely related topic can be “Need of a bbpress for the topic “. Willingness means you are dedicated towards building a spot for like-minded people. It also means that you can devote time to making it – which is easily a very important factor.

As already mentioned in the first point, you should also determine if there is a need for building the bbpress you are. Without the need, you may pretty well build the bbpress, but that might be the end of it as well.

Coming to more practical points, the third is to decide on the software and technology necessary to create the bbpress. When we say a bbpress, in Internet lingo, we usually mean a Message Board. Among various message board softwares available these days – some are free / open source and some are paid – yearly or one time. As the creator / Administrator you will have to purchase or acquire this software or decide on this platform. Some of the better known softwares include – vBulletin , Invisionboard, phpBB , FusionBB, BBPress, Simpe Machines bbpress, Vanilla, UBB Threads, PunBB and many others.

So what next – the choice is many, but an important aspect might be finding a expert who can help you in installing the software, customizing it to your needs and helping with it’s design. While some of you may already have the expertise, it would be best to consult with a developer who has the expertise in working with a few of these softwares. Running a message board or bbpress, requires dedicated attention over time – so having a knowledgeable expert you can keep returning to or having on a full time basis is needed.

Although nowadays most bbpress softwares come with a sleek looking design template of its own, it is important to know that the default design will exist on hundreds of bbpresss. But for you to succeed, you must think of getting a new template to make your website bbpress look better than the rest. If you have a budget , think of getting a custom template designed for your site only. Adorn it with your website logo , colors and theme – for example , if your bbpress is for Books , having the look and feel of a bookstore, book cover or library and anything similar might be an idea. Custom icons such as bookworms, page marker, buttons and anything that you can think off – just goes on to show how much contextual you want your site to be.

Apart from the basic software and its template , you may not necessarily need further modifications, but the bbpress business is quite competitive. Running a bbpress requires keeping your members happy and interested in your ongoing activities. Since majority of your visitors can be returning visitors, and your site thrives on their discussion, commenting – try to find out if any custom modifications can keep them engaged. Some of the commonly known modifications are having a Points system. Every user interaction can be rewarded with points, user badges and contests and prizes.

Once you have got your Internet bbpress up and running, you will need to fill it up with new members, attract more and more traffic from other hangouts, chat rooms, bbpresss and most importantly the Search Engines. Without ample members, a bbpress will dry up and become dead. Not only will you have to get members, give them topics to discuss and comment on but also you will have to ensure that they are some unique offerings. All the regular members come to bbpresss to participate but you as the site owner, will have to take the initiative . Start off addictive games, controversial topics, share new and thought inspiring articles .

From my experience I can tell you that getting off to nice start is not that much difficult . In my time, I have had the good luck and opportunity to administer 3-4 semi-large to large bbpresss. One on the topic of webmasters, one on Television and one adult in nature. The largest had over 100,000 members and this brings me to the topic of controlling the bbpress and bbpress activity. As the Admin or from the Admin group, you must keep a popular yet strict stance on bbpress policies and rules. without proper rules set, not only will you run into trouble, much of your time will be wasted in unnecessary activities when it could have been spent in popularizing and monetizing the bbpress. The need for Rules and Guidelines can not be underplayed while making a Internet bbpress.

As your bbpress grows and keeps growing , I believe you will find the need for building a Team. A committee formed from amongst your existing bbpress members, who will help you out in running the administration. Not only will their task be administrative, but also in content generation, advertising elsewhere, liaising with the members and also helping your site in showing a democratic face – so to speak.

And last but not the least , by far, should be the need for making money out of the whole deal. While many of us make bbpresss because they can – they have the resources in terms of money, hosting space, webmaster abilities, experience in gathering a team of like-minded individuals, in the end the bbpress will not run for long unless it helps the owner in gathering money – directly or indirectly. As the site owner, you can generate income through PPC Ads, Banner Ads, Text Links, Product Endorsements, bbpress Memberships, Newsletter sponsoring and several other ways and means. But I can again tell you from my experience, that the more popular the site becomes, generating money will become a necessity .

If you’re running Magento Commerce on shared hosting, loading speed can be a challenge. Slow loading websites cause customers to click away and shop elsewhere.

once you know your current loading speed, you can start working to reduce it. Remember to always backup your site before making any changes. If possible test these first on a separate sandbox installation of Magento instead of a live website.

Here are five steps you can take to speed up your load time with Magento. You may need to contact your website host or website designers to help you with some of the steps. Also, be sure to stop and check your website after any change to ensure it’s still up and running, this way you’ll know which change caused any issues that occur.

1) PHP5 – Make sure the server you’re hosted on supports php5. While the php5-cgi files Magento provides will work, they also drastically reduce the speed and increase the load on the server.

2) Enable Caching – Inside your Magento admin panel you’ll find options for caching under System > Cache Management. Use these settings. You’ll need to refresh the cache after future changes, but it will help speed loading for your visitors.

3) Enable GZIP Compression – This can be enabled in the .htaccess file Magento includes in it’s default files. Just uncomment the lines for GZIP by removing the # in front of the lines.

4) Install Fooman Speedster – Fooman Speedster is a Magento extension designed to speed up your site by combining, compressing, and caching javascript and css files. Get details at magentocommerce.com/extension/457/fooman-speedster and, as with any extension, be sure your version of Magento is compatible before you install it.

5) Optimize – Follow general good optimization practices such as resizing your images before uploading them, and using smaller sized file formats when possible.

The biggest advantage of Magento development is that developers round the world are constantly contributing to its coding which gives it a matchless momentum. There is a rich trove of documentation which enables even new users to learn how to make the most of what might be an unfamiliar framework. This makes the transition to Magento customization for data using in web services almost painless in its very simplicity. Since flexibility is an important part of the design of Zend framework, the philosophy of use only what is needed continues to guide the ease-of-use and modular nature of future enhancements as well. In fact, developers using Magento know that they don’t need to burden themselves with functionality that might be irrelevant to their specific application.

Since India is becoming a major player in the e-commerce stakes, more and more companies are looking for options for Magento development in India. Such companies should check out certain essentials before hiring any provider. Remember, for Magento development in India you should take a close look at the kind of portfolio the provider already has. How well-trained are the developers? Would they really be able understand the peculiar needs of your business as well as the vision which is driving the needs of your website? Would a casual visitor to your site find it easy to order the products/services you have an offer? How secure would such transactions be? One such company which distinguishes itself by the reliability of Magento development India is Wits Technologies and you would benefit from trying out their services.

There are four main costs to setting up an e-commerce store:

Hosting costs/shopping cart software Hosting costs for an ecommerce shopping cart solution range from free to $79.95 per month or more. Before you purchase a shopping cart system, there are many things to consider. When choosing shopping cart software, you need to consider the number of credit card processors and shipping services it supports. Credit card processors and shipping services can change, so the software will need to be easy to update and be well supported to keep up with the changes in the market. You will also need to consider how easy it is to set up and add products and how easy it is for the customer to use. Shop in some the shopping cart’s sample stores before you make your decision. It is also important to determine if it can handle the tax system where you are selling and if it supports your chosen method of shipping, whether it is by weight, fixed amount, or both. You also have to consider the company who will be hosting your site and/or shopping cart. If your shopping cart is going to be hosted by the same company that hosts your site, you need to ensure that it will be fully supported. You will also need to ensure that your order forms and shopping cart will be secure. Ask your web hosting provider if your hosting package includes the use of their secure server (SSL) or if it will cost extra. Most commercial shopping carts are hosted separately from your site, and the SSL is included in the montly fees you will pay for the software. Some popular shopping carts are: o X-Cart.com – A popular commercial shopping cart. o Oscommerce.org – This is an open source based online shop, (so it’s free!) but it is not easy to set up for a ‘newbie’. You will also need to find a host that supports it. o Zencart.com- Another free open source program that is maintained by volunteer efforts. It is based on oscommerce, and a little easier to set up. Like any open source program, however, it does not have support staff to help you if you are stuck. To solve any problems, you have to rely on forums and other users to help you. o Cartville.com o Paypal.com – Paypal offers a free shopping cart, but it does not work with many tax systems, like the one in Canada.
Development Costs
Whether you hire someone to develop and customize your store or you do it yourself, there are costs involved. You will need to customize the color, logo, shipping, tax and addresses, just to name a few. You will also have to set up your products and product options.
Cost of a merchant account The next cost involves setting up a method of receiving credit card payments on-line. Setting up a Paypal account is the least expensive option (2.9% + $0.30 USD per transaction at the time of writing). Costs for your own merchant account are higher – there are usually set up fees ($500+), transaction fees (up to 3% per transaction) and a monthly flat fee as well. If you already have a merchant account set up off-line, an e-commerce account will be significantly cheaper.
Promotional Costs You should also budget for advertising and search engine marketing to drive consumers to your site. After all, what good is having a store if no one comes to shop?
This article is by no means all encompassing, but it does cover the basics of selling online. An ecommerce site is an affordable way to sell your products to your customers. Compare the costs with setting up a physical store front – the cost of selling on-line is truly cost-efficient. But Beware! Even though opportunities abound in today’s market, if you try to run an ecommerce website on the cheap you will ultimately limit its potential.
Good luck!

Are you a professional blogger? Then you must have understood the prominence of WordPress, overshadowing Drupal. Many professional bloggers are now converting their web pages from Drupal to WordPress. Reason? WordPress is easier, better, and user-friendlier. Many tech savvy people may argue that Drupal is the ideal place for technically sound ones; however, there are many, who cite for the struggle, they have faced during posting their blogs in Drupal. There are a couple of reasons, why many web users are switching from Drupal to WordPress. If you are interested to imbibe the process for a better blogging experience, here are some tips on how to migrate from Drupal to WordPress, mentioned below. Before landing on the topic, let’s take a look why you might need the switch.

Why WordPress is better than Drupal:

WordPress is quicker than Drupal. The tasks that you can perform on Drupal, can be executed much faster on WordPress.
WordPress has the autosave option, which takes care of your incomplete content, while on Drupal, there is no such option in the text editor.
WordPress offers more Plugins.
WordPress has the Thesis theme, which takes extra care to make your page rank higher in search engines.
There is WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor on WordPress, with which you don’t have to take extra burdens to add HTML links.
Moderating comments is easier on WordPress.
How to switch to WordPress from Drupal:Migrating from Drupal to WordPress is not an easy task. You first need to work on the offline copies in the archive. Dump Drupal database from your system and import it into a fresh database. You can use MySQL for this conversion.

Install WordPress into your system, using the old database server, where the Drupal database is kept. You now have Drupal and WordPress running on the same server but in separate database. Don’t forget to give unique names to the databases.

You may need some programming knowledge with MySQL and PHP to work on Drupal. You can enable PHP on Drupal following the path:

/drupal/admin/settings/filters

You need to change the location; else Google will consider it as duplicate content. With slight coding, you can inform Google that the content is being shifted from Drupal to WordPress. After the switch, whenever, you need to post something, just enable ‘Input Format’.

This is the basic procedure of migrating from Drupal to WordPress. Now log in to WordPress site and you will supposedly find all your contents and posts along with the comments on your new WordPress site. If you find all your posts and comments in the migrated database, you can dump the WordPress database and import the archive into a new database on the server. Now a new WordPress should be installed and configured on the server so that you can use the new database properly.
Do you use Drush and Drupal? Then you may want to read this:

What are your favorite/most used commands with Drush, an open source command line utility that we recommend using to build and maintain your Drupal website. Here is our top 9 most used commands on how to use Drush with Drupal, an open source Content Management System (CMS). This is too good of a list to not share with the community.

Drush is by far my favorite tool when it comes to working with Drupal. While grapical tools are often easier to use initially, command-line tools more often give you more power and control, the drush project is an active Drupal project with a major release (3.x) in the works. While it does change some of the basic command names, it organizes and restructures the design to make it easier to extend. The new release also introduces new features/commands, some of which were prior add-ons.

My Favorite/Most Used Commands

Drush provides a number of commands that permit you do perform drupal installation, maintenance, and status operations. Among my most frequently used commands/operations:

1. View the update status of modules

2. Update site modules

3. Clearing caches

4. Download drush modules

5. Enabling modules

6. Disabling modules

7. Download drush to create a new installation

8. Get the list of enabled (disabled) modules

9. Get the list of and status of a specific module

In v2.x, I would do this by:

1. drush -n update

2. drush update

3. drush clear cache

4. drush download m1 m2 m3

5. drush enable m1 m2 m3 (I often use the -y option in order to skip the confirmation)

6. drush disable m1 m2 m3 (I often use the -y option in order to skip the confirmation)

7. drush download (followed by renaming the drupal-N.nn directory to a more meaningful name)

8. drush statusmodule | grep ‘Enabled’ (or ‘Disabled’)

9. drush statusmodule | grep ‘my guess at module name’

Now, with the formal release of v3.x. The revised commands for the above are:

1. drush -n pm-update

2. drush pm-update

3. drush cache-clear all (all, theme, menu, css+js are the available options)

4. drush pm-download m1 m2 m3

5. drush pm-enable m1 m2 m3

6. drush pm-disable m1 m2 m3

7. drush pm-download –drupal-project-rename=my.sitename drupal

8. drush pm-list –type=module –status=enabled

9. drush pm-list –type=module –package=”Package Name” (if you know the exact package name) ordrush pm-list –type=module | grep ‘part of package name or module name’ (if you are not sure of a package or module name)

Your site is ready.

It is one of the leading content management systems (CMS) available online. Modules are used to display and organize content, manage tasks and customize the site.

Drupal is an open source CMS and is therefore accessible to anyone free of charge. There are some web designers who will sell some of their customizations, but those are not the majority of Drupal users who tend to use the software to design their own websites, blogs, forums, etc. Top do so, however, they have to learn how to use it.

The programming language used is PHP which is a good language for creating dynamic web sites, and is also compatible with many operating systems; among them Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. It also needs a database to store the settings and contents, although the ubiquitous MySQL is good enough for this.

Drupal can be used to create e-commerce systems and photo galleries, as only two examples of the many modules that Drupal has to offer. Even though the system comes with default settings these can easily be changed to allow more advanced forms of website to be built.

The Drupal CMS package has received a lot of praise, but there are some who have found it difficult to learn. However, its dynamic nature allows modules to be modified to produce professional looking websites, and enable communities to quickly and easily create, publish, organize and manage content on their websites.

The difficulty in learning how to use Drupal should not be difficult to resolve, and there are Drupal video tutorials available that can not only answer the question what is Drupal, but also answer ‘how is Drupal used’.

One of the benefits of using Drupal in your online business is that it allows for consistent branding. Using this system you can have your images, content, surveys, blogs, polls and e-commerce sites on the same web site. You are therefore able to brand your site accordingly. Drupal is also easy to use if you have the right tuition.

Your website can be up and running in under a week because it is easy to use once you have mastered the basics. You will quickly be able to insert videos, create documents, put up images and sell products on your site. Drupal is also is flexible. There are a large number of modules you can use in your design, and you can ignore those you need not use.

A Drupal video course is the easiest way to learn, and once mastered you can design forms, ecommerce stores, polls, survey and blogs with ease. Manuals are fine, but most people learn best by video, where they can pause and follow exactly what is being done by carrying out the same actions on their own computer. The truth of a video is that if you do exactly as shown, you will get, exactly the same results. You can’t say that of a manual.

If you are a first time user of Drupal then a video tutorial will be an excellent choice. You will have someone walking you through every step of the site creation process. This means that you will not get lost or feel overwhelmed in the process. Additionally, a video tends to be interactive unlike a book or manual. You watch the person demonstrating the actions being taken in the video, and as they demonstrate one step you can follow along, pausing if necessary.

What is Drupal? It is a method of designing the physical form of what is seen by others online: websites, blogs, forums, shopping pages and so on. If it looks good people will stay on your website, and Drupal makes it look good.

For details on a Drupal Video Tutorial, check out Pete’s website Drupal Tutorials [http://www.onlinenetincome.com/drupal-tutorials.html] where you can not only download Drupal, but also learn how to use it.

If we are going to create a website in drupal, the first thing to do is to download the latest version of Drupal. Drupal is available free to download, as it is an open source content management system (CMS). We will learn and use the tools available on Drupal to make an attractive and viable website. While downloading it is wise to write down your user name, password and other relevant information, so that you do not have difficulty in re-accessing the account.

What’s in a name?

The old question asked by Juliet, ‘what’s in a name?’ is faulted by the World Wide Web. A good domain name is crucial for the success of a website. Therefore the first step is to decide upon a good name for your website. Once decided you have to verify whether it is available for use as many domain names are already registered. It is always good to have a name which stirs up an image related to your product or service.

Your level of expertise

Once you have Drupal, it is wise to use all its tools and get the general feel of the CMS. If you are an expert, this should not be a problem but a beginner might feel a bit frustrated in using all the commands. Therefore be patient and create something as a way to learn before really going for your final version of your website

Product decides the style

There is a section in Drupal which shows many sites built with the Drupal development. These can be on diverse topics like sports, medicine or astronomy. You get a great idea of what kind of website is required for your particular product here. So, now one can either select a template or design a theme from scratch. For this one has to go to Drupal gardens. Here you can go through all the themes available and select the one which suits your purpose. One can actually see how the themes are composed of blocks, text and pictures. One can move these around to see how a page can be composed. There are files of pictures and images which can be used on your website.

Training while you create

Drupal is constructed with the use of PHP. The great thing about Drupal is that you do not need to do any intricate programming. All the ingredients for your website are available as easily maneuverable sections which can be moved around on web pages to make a site which satisfies your requirements. The documentation section is another tool on Drupal which is well worth getting familiar with. There is a recipe section which can be used to gain knowledge about creating any sort of website, perhaps something like YouTube or perhaps a site for posting available jobs in your city.

Basic ingredients

In the beginning it is better to keep things simple. Your website is going to consist of four or five sections. These are headers and footers, text blocks, images and sidebars.

Drupal Modules

Another fine tool available on Drupal is Modules. These will further help you fine tune your business specific website. Drupal is the perfect tool for creating a website without requiring knowledge in coding and programming.

CreatorShadow has a team of qualified drupal developers who have specialization in drupal Drupal development, drupal theme/template design & custom development, customization & installation services.
